Our history

A story of passion, chance meetings, and family

It all began in Manhattan, in a boutique bakery on the Upper East Side. Love at first sight shakes up the plans of two ambitious enthusiasts. On August 6, 2016, in New York, Séverine and Joseph say "I do", uniting not just their lives, but also their dreams.

Driven by their shared passion, they returned to Switzerland at the end of 2016, determined to build a project in their own image, inspired by their New York experience.

But the adventure would not be complete without André, also known as Dédé to his friends. A pillar of this adventure, he brings his sense of organization and rigor, giving the project an invaluable solidity.

And so, as a family, after more than a year of preparation, East Side finally opened its doors on January 8, 2019, ready to write a new story, with you.

Séverine

Séverine, originally from Pully, has always had a passion for the hotel and restaurant business. After graduating from EHL, her dream took her to New York, where she joined Maison Kayser as manager.

What was to be an 18-month adventure turned into an unforgettable experience when she joined the team opening the new shops, extending her stay in the city that never sleeps.

Joseph

Joseph grew up in a small village an hour from New York City, without knowing that baking would become his passion. In 2011 he entered a specialized culinary school, where he discovered his love for the craft.

Graduating in 2014, he joined Maison Kayser, a renowned French bakery brand. Starting out as a simple baker, his talent did not go unnoticed: in just one year, he took charge of production at three boutiques in Manhattan.
